Working in 3D

Making objects can be really helpful. Many materials can be used in art therapy to create objects of significance. Clients choose what materials they want to work with.

Clay work

Working with clay or any modelling medium gives a strong sensory experience. This is a very powerful material to work with stimulating the sense of touch. This feeling of touch adds an extra level of experience while being creative and working with form.

Colour

Colour is very significant, especially when recalling trauma as we often remember colours or associate specific colours with emotions or feelings.

Structure

3D work allows structures to be built which can symbolise movement, journeys or spaces.

Sand tray work

Using sand to create events or situations which are hard to express can bring clarity and direction. The tactile nature and ability to dig or bury can be useful to explore difficult feelings.
